FTA Data Protection Policy

The FTA Data Protection Policy is designed to protect the personal data held by FTA.

1. The required personal data of all FTA members and officers comprise the names of the members, at least one email address, one terrestrial address and one telephone number. It may also include date of birth, passport number and date of issue for group travel abroad.

2. Permission to store the personal data is required from each member.

3. The data is required solely for the administration of the Association, and communication with FTA members; it is used for no other purpose.

4. The FTA Data Protection Officer (FTA DPO) is the FTA Secretary, to whom all queries and requests must be addressed. The officer is responsible for the storage, maintenance and security of the data and that it is up -to-date.

5. Access to the data is restricted to the FTA Chairman, FTA Vice Chairman, FTA Secretary, and the FTA Treasurer. From time to time other FTA members may be granted access to undertake work on, or with, the data, in which cases this will be specifically authorised by the FTA DPO and the Committee.

6. The only data referring to FTA members published on the FTA website comprise the names of its officers and committee members and forenames only of other members subject to the permission of the relevant members. This also applies to the publication of FTA newsletters, and other of its publications when appropriate.

7. Notification to the FTA DPO of the resignation of an FTA member and a request of a member for their data to be removed will place the responsibility on the FTA DPO to ensure the removal of all the relevant personal data from all databases or lists held by FTA.

Language is no barrier!

If you are not able to ‘parlez’ or ‘sprechen’, this need not deter you from becoming a member. Most of our ‘twins’ have a knowledge of English.

If you have a smattering of French or German, FTA membership will give you access to native speakers at least once a year to help you maintain and improve your language skills.  You will also be able to join our informal language circles undertaken from time to time in local pubs and members’ homes.

Membership of FTA is open to everyone -single, family or group- within the Falmouth area and costs very little.

Membership Benefits

  • Visit France and Germany as a welcome guest and be treated as a friend rather than a tourist.
  • Stay with a family, rather than in an anonymous hotel and share the locals' way of life, culture and cuisine.
  • Entertain French and German visitors in your home sharing your lifestyle.
  • Make friends at home and abroad by participating in our events and visits.
  • Act as a local ambassador when showing off the delights of Cornwall.
